Arizona State Scandal
The then 27 year-old Benny Silman learned the hard way just how bad an idea it is to rig a basketball game. Silman abused his status of campus bookkeeper and bribed players to miss shots so he (and fellow gamblers) could beat the projected point spread.
He was sentenced to 46 months in prison. When released in 2002, Silman decided to pass on his hard won knowledge (of what an amazingly bad idea it is to bribe players, and how you can end up in jail) and began doing seminars and writing articles about the dangers of gambling.
